Car tax bands

The fewer C02 emissions that your vehicle creates the cheaper your car tax will be - motors that cause the least pollution are in Band A, the lowest band, and automobiles that have been proven to pollute the most rest in the highest grade called Band M. Vehicles that qualify to sit in Band A do not have to pay road tax. Some of these are electric cars but all are free from the congestion charge in London. Band A cars include the Ford Fiesta ECOnetic, the Vauxhall Corsa ecoFlex, the VW Golf Bluemotion, the Audi A3 Start/Stop 99, the Peugeot 207 Economique and the Ford Fiesta Edge Motorists with vehicles in Band M have to pay the highest amounts, which can hit figures of over £400. Six month road tax discs can only be purchased for cars in Band D and above. New cars in Bands A to D will not have to pay for road tax for 12 months - beyond this point vehicle owners will have to pay.
